We pulled Google's top results for "content automation platforms" on October 18, 2026, and found that not one of the ten organic results was about SEO or AI search content. Two were Zapier lists of social media and marketing tools. Others covered marketing automation, video tools and AI agents. One still ranking was titled for 2024.
So this list sticks to one job, getting search content written, published and measured. The ten platforms are RankControl, Frase, Koala AI, AirOps, Scalenut, Byword, Surfer SEO, Jasper, NeuronWriter and MarketMuse. We checked each one on October 18, 2026 against its own pricing page and docs.
The short verdicts:
- For the whole pipeline run for you, pick RankControl, because it plans, writes, publishes and tracks AI answers in one plan.
- For a cheaper research-to-publish tool, pick Frase, because it publishes to four CMSs from $49 a month.
- For volume on a small budget, pick Koala AI, because it starts at $25 and publishes in one click.
- For editing drafts by hand, pick Surfer SEO, because its score updates while you type.
Pipeline or writing assistant
The tools on this list split into two kinds. A pipeline plans what to write, writes it, publishes it to your site and then tracks what happens. A writing assistant helps you draft and polish, then hands the finished text back to you.
That handoff is where most of the time goes. A freelancer on r/content_marketing said the writing wasn't what ate their day. It was the scheduling, resizing and checking around it. The most upvoted replies made a sensible point too. Automate with a checkpoint, where the machine drafts, a person approves and the machine ships.
I’m thinking I need to automate more of my content work
I’ve been handling a few clients at the same time and it’s funny how much time goes into things that aren’t even the actual content. Between blogs, Instagram and Facebook posts, captions, scheduling and then going back to check everything,...
We call this the last-mile test. Does the tool get a finished post onto your site, and does it tell you what happened afterwards? When we checked, we found that at least six of the ten pass the first half. Fewer pass both.

Content generation, backlink building, AI visibility tracking, and Google rankings. One platform, zero guesswork.

1. RankControl
RankControl is ours, and it's built to pass the last-mile test. It finds the questions your buyers ask and plans titles onto a calendar. It writes each article against the pages already ranking for its keyword, matched to your brand voice. Then it scores the draft for how easily AI engines can quote it, with a list of fixes.

Finished posts publish natively to WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and six other destinations. Auto-publish is off by default, so you approve each article until you trust it. After that, its AI visibility tracking checks up to 50 buyer questions every week across seven AI engines, including Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews. It records whether each answer mentioned you, cited you or both, and every source the answer used.
Expect traffic from Google and AI search to come first. Citations usually follow later, as other sites link to and mention your pages. It doesn't have a live score that changes while you type, and at $400 a month it costs more than any entry plan here. That one plan covers 100 pages a month and starts with a 7-day trial.
Price: $400/mo, 7-day trial. Best for: teams that want the whole pipeline run for them.
2. Frase
Frase now sells itself as an SEO and GEO platform. It covers research, drafting, optimization, AI visibility tracking and publishing in one place. Plans are Starter at $49 a month, Professional at $129 and Scale at $299, with yearly billing about 20% lower.

It publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity and Wix, or to its own free hosting. The catch is how tracking is split. Starter covers ChatGPT and Google AI, Professional adds Perplexity, and Claude and Gemini only arrive on the $299 Scale plan. Our RankControl vs Frase comparison goes through the plans in detail.
Price: from $49/mo, 7-day trial with no card. Best for: writers who want one research-to-publish tool.
3. Koala AI
Koala AI is the cheapest way to fill a blog. Its Starter plan is $25 a month, and its plans climb in nine steps to $2,000 for Scale III. New accounts get 5,000 free words without a card.

Publishing is one click to WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and Ghost, plus webhooks. Its tracking comes from your own Search Console and Analytics, not from AI engines. So it can show your Google clicks, but not whether ChatGPT or Perplexity named you.
Price: from $25/mo, free words to start. Best for: high volume on a small budget.
4. AirOps
AirOps is less a writer and more a kit for building your own content workflow. Its Playbooks connect research, writing, CMS publishing and analytics. The Pro plan adds insights across seven or more answer engines, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Grok.

It names Webflow, WordPress, HubSpot, Contentful, Strapi and Sanity as places it can publish. What it doesn't show is a price. Every plan sends you to a free trial or a sales call, so you can't compare costs before signing up. Our AirOps alternatives list has more on that.
Price: not published, 14-day trial. Best for: teams that want to build their own pipeline.
5. Scalenut
Scalenut combines an AI writer with weekly AI prompt tracking. List prices are $59, $89 and $199 a month, though its pricing page leads with a 60% off promo. Read the list price before you budget, since the promo price isn't what renews.

The Plus and Professional plans auto-publish to WordPress and Shopify. Tracking covers ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, with Perplexity added on Professional, for 10, 25 or 100 prompts. Scalenut's own support page says that AI visibility data can't be exported, so the history stays inside the tool.
Price: from $59/mo list, 7 days free. Best for: small sites tracking a few prompts.
6. Byword
Byword is built for volume. Starter is $99 a month for 25 articles, Standard $299 for 80 and Scale $999 for 300. Yearly billing takes about 17% off.

Its integrations page lists seven CMSs with native publishing, including WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Ghost, Framer, HubSpot and Medium. Posts go out automatically once written. Byword has no AI citation tracking of its own, so you'd need a second tool to see whether any of those articles show up in AI answers.
Price: from $99/mo, 5 free articles. Best for: programmatic SEO at volume.
7. Surfer SEO
Surfer is the best-known writing assistant on this list, and it does one thing better than anything else here. Its content score updates live while a writer types, against the pages ranking for the keyword. If your team edits every draft by hand, that live feedback is worth a lot.

Plans run from Discovery at $49 a month to Peace of Mind at $299, both quoted as billed yearly. AI tracking is a separate AI Search Analytics plan at $82 a month, covering ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Overviews and AI Mode. It sends drafts to WordPress and Contentful through integrations, but someone still presses the button. Our RankControl vs Surfer SEO comparison covers the tradeoff.
Price: from $49/mo billed yearly. Best for: writers who edit drafts by hand.

8. Jasper
Jasper has moved past blog posts toward full marketing campaigns. It offers brand voice controls, a Canvas workspace and more than 100 marketing agents. Pro costs $69 a month per seat, or $59 billed yearly, and Business needs a 12-month contract.

There's no native CMS publishing. Jasper connects through its API, Zapier and Make, so getting a post live is a workflow you build. Its GEO feature says it measures your brand across AI answer engines, but the pricing page doesn't name which. The Jasper alternatives list covers tools that publish.
Price: $69/mo per seat, 7-day trial. Best for: marketing teams producing more than blog posts.
9. NeuronWriter
NeuronWriter is the cheapest content editor here, starting at $23 a month for Bronze. The plans that matter for this list start at Gold, $69 a month. That's where AI monitoring and the WordPress and Shopify connections unlock.

Its AI monitoring covers Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT and Perplexity. The 7-day trial runs at Gold level, so you can test those features before paying. Bronze and Silver are editor-only.
Price: from $23/mo, 7-day trial. Best for: solo writers on a budget.
10. MarketMuse
MarketMuse is a planning tool more than an automation one. It models topics, shows the gaps in your coverage and writes detailed content briefs. The free plan gives one user 10 queries a month.

Every paid plan is priced through a demo call, and there's no CMS publishing or AI visibility tracking on its pricing page. It fits teams that want a strategist's map of what to write and will handle the writing elsewhere. Our MarketMuse alternatives list covers the rest.
Price: free plan, paid by demo. Best for: content strategists planning coverage.

What we left out and why
Outranking was on our first list, but its site returned a server error when we checked on October 18, and reviews reported prices that don't agree. We'd rather leave it out than guess. Semrush's ContentShake publishes only to WordPress, one article at a time, and we covered it in our RankControl vs ContentShake AI comparison.
Content at Scale is now BrandWell, and its SEO writing product is RankWell, priced from $249 to $999 a month. Writesonic overlaps heavily with Jasper and Surfer, so it missed the cut.
What the DIY version looks like
You can build some of this yourself. A content site owner on r/Blogging, with WordPress sites running since 2018, wrote about wiring an AI model straight into WordPress. Before that, they'd logged in and updated posts one at a time for years. Several replies said they had connected their own Search Console data the same way.
finally got AI to work with my WordPress sites and I feel dumb for not doing this sooner
I've had WordPress sites since 2018. couple of them are my main income. content sites, nothing fancy. lately I've been building new projects with code because AI makes it so easy you just tell it what you want and it builds it. but my WordP...
That works if you enjoy building it. You still need topics, a check on each draft, a publish step and a way to see results. Count about three hours per finished article, plus a few hours a month to keep the scripts working.
Doing it yourself or handing it off
A writing assistant saves time on the draft. A pipeline saves the time around it, which is most of it. Planning, publishing and checking results is easily eight to ten hours a month for a team posting weekly.
You can keep that work in-house with an editor and your own checklist. Or RankControl can plan, write and publish the articles to your site, then check every week how they show up in AI answers. You keep the final say on each post, or switch on auto-publish when you're ready.
