Streams in live

Your first ChatGPT visitor shows up in GA4 as a stray referral row nobody opens. You'll never know the strategy worked.

RankControl classifies every visit, names the assistant that sent it, and logs the crawlers reading your pages. The first sign of AI traction shows up the day it happens, not in a quarterly guess.

How it works

Three answers to “is it working?”

01 / AI crawling

Catch GPTBot in the act.

GPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended and eight more, logged per page and per visit. A crawl is the earliest signal an AI model is reading you, and it shows up here weeks before a citation ever could. You'll know which clusters the bots keep returning to, and which ones they skip.

02 / Source attribution

ChatGPT traffic, labeled ChatGPT.

Every visit lands in one of five buckets: organic, AI referral, direct, social, or email. Each AI referral carries the name of the assistant that sent it, so “is the AI thing working?” stops being a shrug and becomes a number you can grow on purpose.

03 / Rankings & reports

Rankings by page. Reports by Monday.

Google and Bing positions tracked for every published page, Search Console impressions and clicks synced daily, and a weekly brief that reads like a note from a sharp analyst: what moved, why it matters, what's next. Forward it to a client or your co-founder as-is.

Live

Traffic, AI crawler visits, and lead activity stream in as they happen. No sampling, no next-day processing delay.

Common questions

Before you trust the numbers

How is this different from GA4?

It's the search-and-AI lens GA4 doesn't have: AI referrals classified per assistant, an AI crawler log, rankings and Search Console beside your traffic, all scoped to the content RankControl publishes. Keep GA4 for everything else; nothing needs migrating.

Do I need to install a tracking tag?

No separate setup. Articles published through RankControl carry a lightweight snippet, so tracking starts with your first published page. No tag manager, no cookie banners from us, no personal profiles built.

Which AI crawlers do you track?

Twelve and counting, including GPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, Bingbot, Bytespider, CCBot, Amazonbot, and Applebot. Every hit is logged per page and per bot.

What counts as an AI referral?

A human visitor who arrived from an AI assistant, detected from the referrer: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and others, each credited to the assistant that sent it. Bot hits are kept separate as crawl events, never mixed into your traffic.

How fresh is the data?

Traffic, AI crawler visits, and lead activity stream in live. Search Console syncs and site health recalculates daily. Citation checks, rank checks, and competitor scans run weekly, and the weekly brief lands in your inbox.
