Passionfruit's terms of service include a line worth reading before you leave. When an account is cancelled, the company reserves the right to remove your account information and settings "with NO liability or notice to you." A few lines earlier: "You are solely responsible for backing up your User Content."
That's the general site terms. Passionfruit also sells a self-serve product, Passionfruit Labs, whose terms are gentler and more specific. So the first step in switching to RankControl is working out which Passionfruit you're leaving, because the rules differ. Every Passionfruit detail below comes from its two websites and their terms, checked on September 26, 2026.
Which Passionfruit are you leaving?
Passionfruit runs two things under one name. The agency at getpassionfruit.com sells managed SEO and GEO retainers, priced by quote after a call. Passionfruit Labs, marketed at getpassionfruit.ai, is a self-serve AI visibility tracker from $19 a month.
| Passionfruit agency | Passionfruit Labs | |
|---|---|---|
| What you pay for | A managed SEO and GEO team | A self-serve AI visibility tracker |
| Price | Custom, after an exploratory call | $19, $49 or $99 a month; Enterprise custom |
| Notice | Written notice 30 days before the next billing period | Cancel in settings, or email 30 days before renewal |
| Refunds | "All payments are final and non-refundable" | None after the 7-day trial |
| Your data after cancelling | May be removed without notice | May be deleted 30 days after cancelling |

Some teams use both: the agency does the work and Labs shows the numbers. If that's you, follow both sections below.
Leaving Passionfruit Labs
The Labs terms are clear about timing. Your access lasts until the end of the billing period you've paid for, and Passionfruit "may delete User Data 30 days after cancellation." Reactivating inside those 30 days brings your data back. After that, it can be gone.
The terms also say exporting is your job, so do it before you cancel. The dashboard sits behind a login, so we couldn't check its export options ourselves. Save these either way:
- Your full prompt list, with the engines each prompt ran on.
- The latest share-of-voice and sentiment readings for your brand and competitors.
- Page-level citations: which of your URLs each engine quoted.
- Any content suggestions you haven't acted on yet.
To cancel, use your account settings, or email [email protected] at least 30 days before renewal. Payments are final after the 7-day trial, so there's no refund for a partial month.
Leaving the agency retainer
The agency side publishes much less. Its terms ask for written notice at least 30 days before your next billing period, and they say all payments are final. The retainer itself is quoted privately, so your own agreement may say more. Read it before you send notice.
What the public terms don't cover is the handover. Nothing on the site says what happens to reports, dashboards, links or account access when a client leaves. So ask for it in writing, in the same email as your notice:
| Ask for | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| A list of every URL they published | Your articles are on your site, but you need the list to track them |
| Drafts and briefs in progress | Work you've paid for that isn't live yet |
| Reports and Page360 exports | Your before-picture for AI visibility and traffic |
| Links and placements they built | So you can see what's live and keep it |
| Reddit and social accounts they posted from | Their "Reddit Engagement" work may sit on accounts they control |
| Confirmation that their access is removed | Search Console, Google Analytics, your CMS and any ad accounts |
The terms also give Passionfruit a license to content you submitted to its platform, and that license survives termination. If that matters to you, raise it before you sign off.
Remove their access yourself
Don't wait for confirmation. In Search Console and Google Analytics, remove any Passionfruit users from each property, and check for service accounts as well as named people, since reporting tools often connect through those. Delete their accounts or application passwords in your CMS, and check your ad accounts if they worked on paid campaigns.

Your competitors are getting cited by AI. You're not.
Every day without citation tracking is a day your competitors pull ahead in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude.
Take a clean baseline before you switch
Agencies often report AI visibility with screenshots, and a screenshot from a logged-in account is a weak baseline. In a September r/AskMarketing thread about finding a GEO agency after a bad experience, one reply put it well: "ChatGPT and Perplexity results vary by account history and session, so a single logged-in screenshot proves nothing."
Anyone found a good GEO agency after a bad experience?
Hired an agency last year that promised LLM visibility alongside traditional SEO. Six months in, our content wasn't showing up in ChatGPT or Perplexity at all, and organic traffic barely moved. Felt like they were just doing basic blog post...
Before you switch, run your 10 most important buyer questions in a fresh, logged-out session in ChatGPT and Perplexity. Note which brands get named and which pages get cited. That's the record you'll compare against RankControl's first weekly check.
One more thing on timing. Labs runs your prompts every day, 20 a day on Lite and up to 150 on Pro, while RankControl checks weekly. Compare week against week, and keep your query wording the same as your old prompts for the first month, so any change you see comes from the switch and not from a reworded question.
Where everything lands in RankControl
Start with Brand Control. It reads your live site and drafts your voice, products, buyers and competitors, and you correct what it got wrong. Any brand guidelines you gave the agency go in as guideline rules, and up to three of your best articles can go in as style references.
Next, add your prompts from Labs as tracked queries, up to 50. AI visibility tracking checks each one weekly on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Grok and Google AI Mode. On Labs, Claude needs the $99 Pro plan, and Grok and Google's AI answers need Enterprise. Here they're all in the one plan.

Then connect a publishing destination and run the sitemap scan, so new articles link into the ones the agency published. The content engine plans titles from the questions your buyers search, writes each one against the pages already ranking, and publishes up to 100 pages a month. Auto-publish stays off until you turn it on.
For links, Link Control finds prospects for each published article and drafts outreach from your own mailbox. Its Social agent finds Reddit and X threads where your articles answer the question and drafts a reply for you to post from your own account. If you want links handled for you, Managed Backlinks adds five a month from DR 25+ sites for $350.
The one thing RankControl won't replace is a team working on your whole site. The agency's in-house specialists handle technical SEO and programmatic pages across your site, and RankControl works on the articles it writes. If you want a person steering, the Dedicated Strategist add-on is $1,500 a month.
200+ SaaS teams already track their AI citations.
They know exactly when ChatGPT mentions their brand, and when it stops. Do you?

The switch from Passionfruit, step by step
- Send written notice to the agency, with your handover list: 20 minutes.
- Export or record your Labs prompts, readings and citations: 30 to 60 minutes.
- Take a logged-out baseline on your top 10 buyer questions: about 30 minutes.
- Start RankControl's 7-day free trial and let setup read your site: about 15 minutes.
- Correct the brand draft, add guideline rules and style references: 30 to 45 minutes.
- Add tracked queries and competitors, then connect your CMS: about 45 minutes.
- Remove Passionfruit's access to Search Console, Analytics and your CMS.
- Cancel Labs once your exports are saved.
The work adds up to four or five hours. The 30-day notice on a retainer is the long part, so run RankControl alongside the agency during that month.
What changes after the switch
The pricing model changes the most. A Passionfruit retainer is quoted after a call, and Labs runs from $19 to $99 a month for tracking alone. RankControl is one plan at $400 a month, and it writes, publishes and tracks. In place of agency reports, a weekly email sums up new citations, ranking moves and visits that came from AI answers.
So does who does the work. With the agency, a team works for you. With RankControl, the pipeline does it, and your part is approving titles and reviewing drafts until you trust auto-publish.
You can run this by hand: write the pages, publish them, pitch the links and check six engines every week. Or RankControl's agents can run it every month while you focus on your product. For a head-to-head look, see RankControl vs Passionfruit Labs.
