Blotato's help center has a short answer that every departing customer should read before clicking cancel. Asked whether you can pause instead, it says there's no pause or freeze, and that cancelling "takes effect immediately." You lose your remaining AI credits and all scheduled posts. "They will not be published."
So the first rule of this switch is timing. This guide covers moving from Blotato, the AI social posting tool, to RankControl, and it's a different kind of switch than most. Blotato puts posts on social platforms. RankControl publishes articles on your own site, turns them into social drafts, and tracks whether AI engines cite you. Every Blotato detail below comes from its help center, pricing page and terms, checked on September 26, 2026.

What comes with you when you switch from Blotato
| In Blotato | Can you take it? | Where it lands in RankControl |
|---|---|---|
| Posts already published | Yes, they stay on each platform | Nothing to move |
| Scheduled posts | Lost on cancel | Let them publish first |
| AI videos, carousels, infographics | Saved but locked after cancel; download first | Your own media library |
| Source material (videos, articles, PDFs) | Yours already | Input for Brand Control |
| Templates and prompts | Copy by hand | Brand Control guideline rules |
| Analytics on top posts | Screenshot | Reference for topics |
| Connected accounts, API and MCP access | Revoke | Not needed |
The published posts are safe, and the source material was always yours. The things to act on are the scheduled queue and the media you made inside Blotato.
Save your content before you cancel
Blotato's help center doesn't describe an export tool. Its FAQ says your content "is not deleted when you cancel," but it also says you can't open the app, including old videos, posts and settings, without an active subscription. So everything you want to keep has to come out while you're still paying.
- Download the AI videos, carousels and infographics you want to reuse, one at a time.
- Copy any templates, prompts or custom instructions you wrote into a document.
- Screenshot the analytics view for your top posts by views, likes and comments.
- Save the list of accounts you connected, so you know what to revoke later.
Blotato's terms are blunt about who carries the risk: "You are solely responsible for retaining copies of any User Content that you post to the Service." If you want your data deleted after you leave, the privacy policy says to email [email protected].
Time the cancellation
Let the queue run out before you cancel. Check the calendar for the last scheduled post, and cancel after it goes live. If you need to switch sooner, recreate the important posts elsewhere first, because nothing scheduled will fire once you cancel.
To cancel, go to Settings, then Billing, and click Open Billing Portal. Blotato's terms also accept a cancellation email to [email protected]. There's no pause option.
Refunds are a mixed picture. The terms say fees are "non-refundable, except as provided in these Terms or as required by law." The help center describes refunds processed through Stripe, which also cancel the subscription immediately. And the FAQ says to email support within 14 days "if something genuinely doesn't work." Don't count on a refund, and ask before you cancel if the timing matters.

They know exactly when ChatGPT mentions their brand, and when it stops. Do you?

Revoke Blotato's access
Blotato connects to your social accounts and often to your automation stack, so take that access back:
- Social platforms: remove Blotato from the connected apps settings in each network you linked, up to 20 accounts on Starter.
- n8n and Make: turn off workflows that use the Blotato node, and delete the Blotato API key from their credentials.
- AI assistants: remove Blotato's MCP server from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or wherever you added it.
The automation step is the one people forget. A scheduled n8n workflow will keep calling Blotato's API and failing quietly after you cancel.
Where everything lands in RankControl
This is where the switch changes shape. Blotato's unit of work is a social post. RankControl's is an article on your domain, which then feeds the social posts.
Start with Brand Control. It reads your live site and drafts your voice, products, buyers and competitors, and you correct what it got wrong. Your Blotato templates and prompt notes go in as guideline rules, and up to three of your best articles can go in as style references.
Next, connect a publishing destination such as WordPress, Webflow or Shopify. The content engine plans titles from the questions your buyers search and writes each article against the pages already ranking, and auto-publish stays off until you turn it on.

Then turn on repurposing. Each published article becomes drafts for eight social platforms, LinkedIn, X and TikTok among them, written for how each one reads. If you use Postiz as a scheduler, add its API key and push drafts from RankControl.
Blotato goes further on video and on inbox work. It makes AI avatar videos, posts to nine networks including Bluesky, and runs DM automations for Facebook and Instagram, and RankControl does none of that.
Finally, add up to 50 tracked queries. AI visibility tracking checks each one weekly on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Grok and Google AI Mode. That's the part Blotato never measured: whether AI answers name you when buyers ask about your category.
How often does ChatGPT mention your brand?
Most founders have no idea. The answer might surprise you.

Why the article comes first
Social posts do get cited in AI answers. Digiday reported in September, from Meltwater data, that YouTube became the most-cited platform across eight AI systems in August, passing Reddit. But a citation on a social platform is usually someone else's thread or someone else's video.
An article on your own domain gives the engines a page of yours to quote, and the social posts send people back to it. RankControl builds in that order: the article, then the posts that point to it. Its Social agent also finds live Reddit and X threads where one of your articles answers the question, checks the community's rules, and drafts a reply.
In an r/n8n thread last year, people looking for Blotato alternatives mostly swapped names of other posting tools. That's the right move if posting is your whole job. If the goal is to show up when buyers ask ChatGPT for recommendations, posting works best as the second step, after there's a page of yours worth citing.
Please are there alternatives to blotato?
I'm learning n8n, are there free alternatives to blotato for TikTok posting.?
Take a baseline before you switch
Blotato never measured AI answers, so you won't have an AI visibility history to carry over. Make one before RankControl's first check runs. Pick 10 questions a buyer might ask about your category, such as "best tool for" or "alternatives to" questions, and ask them in ChatGPT and Perplexity. Note whether your brand is named and which pages get cited.
Do the same for social. Write down the views and clicks on your top five Blotato posts from the last month. When RankControl's repurposed posts start going out, you'll have a fair comparison, and you'll be able to see whether posts that point to an article send more people to your site.
The switch from Blotato, step by step
- Check the scheduling calendar and note the last scheduled post: 5 minutes.
- Download videos, carousels and infographics you want to keep: 30 to 60 minutes.
- Copy templates and prompts, and screenshot top-post analytics: about 20 minutes.
- Start RankControl's 7-day free trial and let setup read your site: about 15 minutes.
- Correct the brand draft and add guideline rules and style references: 30 to 45 minutes.
- Add tracked queries and competitors, and connect your CMS: about 45 minutes.
- After the last scheduled post goes live, cancel Blotato and revoke its access: 15 minutes.
That's about three hours of work, spread around your last scheduled post.
What changes after the switch
The pricing model changes, and so does what you pay for. Blotato runs on AI credits, from 1,250 a month on the $29 Starter plan to 28,000 on the $499 Agency plan. RankControl is one plan at $400 a month with 100 pages, 50 tracked queries on six engines, and social drafts for every article.
The bigger change is what you measure. Blotato's analytics count views, likes and comments on posts. RankControl counts whether AI engines cite your pages, where you rank on Google and Bing, and how many visits came from AI answers.
You can run this by hand: write the articles, publish them, cut the social posts, and check six engines every week. Or RankControl's agents can run it every month while you focus on your product. For a head-to-head look at the two, see RankControl vs Blotato.
