RankControl vs Authoritas: Which Wins AI Search Visibility in 2026?

RankControl vs Authoritas: an enterprise SEO and AI search tracking platform billed in credits, against a pipeline that checks six AI engines weekly and also writes, publishes and builds links. Tracking, pricing and a clear verdict.

RankControl vs Authoritas: Which Wins AI Search Visibility in 2026?

Authoritas's AI Search pricing page has a calculator, and I'd look at the example it loads with before reading a single feature. The example has two sites with 300 questions each, every question asked daily on two models. That load comes to 37,200 credits a month. For it, the calculator recommends AI Search Enterprise 1, which costs £1,129 a month before VAT.

What you're buying from Authoritas, then, is deep tracking priced by the check. RankControl's plan runs one set panel, 50 queries asked on six engines once a week, and spends the rest of what you pay on writing, publishing and link outreach. That difference matters most to a team with nobody free to write the pages a tracker points to. Every Authoritas detail below comes from its site, its pricing pages or review-site listings, as I found them on September 26, 2026.

RankControl vs Authoritas: the short answer

If AI search visibility is the goal, I'd pick RankControl, even though Authoritas gives you the more detailed read on AI answers. RankControl reads those answers once a week and then publishes the pages that move them.

Authoritas sells an SEO platform to brands, publishers and e-commerce sites. Keyword research and rank tracking are the core of it, with market share reporting, a crawler, content tools and APIs around them. AI Search is a separate purchase that you pay for in credits, and it watches AI models for mentions and citations of your brand on whatever schedule you pick. Both products are priced in pounds and billed separately.

RankControl works as a pipeline on one $400-a-month plan. Your buyers' questions turn into titles, and the titles turn into published articles with link outreach drafted for each one, while 50 queries get checked on six AI engines every week.

What Authoritas is

Behind the Authoritas name sits Analytics SEO Ltd, a UK company. Laurence O'Toole founded it and is its CEO, and his digital marketing career goes back to 1996. The site header now adds "a rezolve company," and the homepage sells the product as a "Complete AI Search + SEO Visibility Platform."

Authoritas homepage with the headline Complete AI Search + SEO Visibility Platform for Brands and a logo reading a rezolve company

The SEO side covers a lot, so I've put it in a table:

Part of AuthoritasWhat's in it
SEO platformKeyword research and rank tracking, market share reports, a content assistant, a crawler that checks Core Web Vitals
ReportingConnects to Looker Studio and BigQuery
For developersThree APIs (keyword rankings, page structure, the platform) and a Google Sheets plugin that pulls in keyword data without code

The real advantage Authoritas has over us is how deep its AI tracking goes. It watches more AI surfaces, Bing Copilot and Google AI Overviews among them, and it collects answers through APIs as well as by crawling the live interfaces people use. Checks can run hourly, and it flags hallucinations and misinformation about your brand, which is more depth than RankControl's weekly panel offers.

Credits or a fixed weekly panel

Every AI Search check at Authoritas spends credits. The pricing page sets the base rate like this: "most models cost 1 credit per query, including ChatGPT, Google AIO and Google AI Mode." The more capable models cost more, as the table shows, and you only get the search-grounded ones on Enterprise.

Model typeCredits per query
Most models, including ChatGPT, Google AIO and Google AI Mode1
Flagship and search-grounded models2
The most capable search-grounded model5

Authoritas AI Search plans list with Free at 50 credits, P1 at £89 for 2,000 credits, P2 at £229, P3 at £379 and Enterprise 1 at £1,129 a month

I ran rough numbers on a modest setup, 50 questions on five standard models:

50 questions on five standard modelsCredits a monthPlan that covers it
Checked weeklyAbout 1,100£89
Checked dailyAbout 7,750£379

Nothing differs between those two rows except the schedule, and that alone moves you from the cheapest paid plan to the £379 one. More questions or pricier models would push the bill up again.

RankControl's AI visibility tracking doesn't use credits at all. Your 50 tracked queries go to the six engines in the table above once a week, so there's no balance to guard and no reason to leave a question out. Each check tells you which engines named you, who they named in your place and which sources their answers quoted.

Both beat doing it in a spreadsheet. A May thread in r/DigitalMarketing laid out the manual version: 47 prompts pasted into each AI engine every Monday, then every answer searched for the brand's name, which ate four hours a week. The same poster watched one prompt name completely different brands on Tuesday and on Thursday, and every tracker has to live with swings like that.

how do you actually track llm visibility without losing your mind

Daily checks add data points and credits without changing the trend, so I'd care less about how many checks you run than about asking one unchanging set of questions the same way every week. That's what gives you a trend line you can report when single answers are noisy.

Content and publishing

Authoritas isn't short of content tools. There's an assistant for drafting and optimizing pages, a content strategy tool that groups keywords into topics, and the FAQ Explorer, which mines the People Also Ask boxes in Google. None of them publishes to a CMS, as far as I could see, which leaves every page for your team to write, format and publish. The Target Internet review made a similar complaint about the Content 360 audit view, which it said shows metrics but offers no workflow for acting on them.

The content engine in RankControl builds its titles out of your buyers' questions, then writes every article against what already ranks for it. There are 26 formats to choose from, guides, comparisons and alternatives pages among them. Publishing happens as a native post on the destination you connect, one of nine, and until you switch auto-publish on, each article waits for you to approve it.

For AI search, this is the gap I'd care about most. A tracker can tell you that a competitor gets named for "best tools for X." To change that, you need a page on your own site that answers the question.

On links, Authoritas lists backlink analysis and influencer discovery, plus an SEO CRM for keeping track of outreach contacts. Target Internet's independent 2026 review pointed out one catch: if you want competitor backlink data, you'll need a Majestic account on top.

In RankControl, Link Control works article by article, finding link prospects for each new article and then drafting outreach that's sent from your own mailbox. The Social agent drafts replies in Reddit and X threads your article answers. To hand links off entirely, Managed Backlinks costs $350 a month for five from DR 25+ sites.

Pricing and how you buy

SEO and AI Search are two separate Authoritas products, each priced in pounds and each with a free tier:

Authoritas planPrice a month

SEO EnterpriseOn request
AI Search£89 to £379
AI Search Enterprise£1,129 to £2,409

Annual billing gets you a month free, and the primary button on the site is for booking a demo.

RankControl's single plan is $400 monthly or $4,000 for a year. Inside it are 100 new pages each month and 50 tracked queries across six engines, and five people can use it. Publishing costs nothing extra, and neither do the outreach and social drafts. For the 7-day trial, your card goes in first and you owe $0 today.

Working from an AI assistant

The APIs at Authoritas are good ones. The keyword ranking API gives you 1,000 requests a month free, while access to the platform API is part of the larger business and agency packages. An MCP server, though, wasn't anywhere I looked.

RankControl includes its MCP server and CLI in the plan, with 80+ tools between them. Inside Claude, Cursor or Codex, you can ask how your visibility moved on six engines and go straight on to planning titles, writing an article and publishing it. Publishing actions stop at a dry run and wait for you to confirm.

RANKCONTROL

2First AI Search results; tune questions and cadenceFirst titles planned; you approve them
3Review citations and sentiment; brief your writersArticles publish; outreach drafts arrive
4Report share of voice; watch the credit balanceFourth weekly check on six engines

Four weeks on Authoritas leave you with a detailed picture of how AI models describe your brand, plus a to-write list that moves as fast as your writers do. Four weeks on RankControl leave you with articles live on your domain and four weekly readings of whether AI engines cite you. In month two you can match those readings to the pages that went out and spot which ones shifted an answer.

Questions to ask before you choose

The question I'd answer first is what you'll do when a rival gets named and you don't. A report alone won't close that gap, so I'd name the person who owns the work before choosing any tool to report it. Usually the work is a page that answers the question better, plus mentions on the sites the engines quote. Finding out you're missing from "X alternatives" answers is worth something only once a person writes that page.

How often you check matters less than it looks. For most brands a weekly reading is enough, because a single day's answer can swing, and daily data at Authoritas means budgeting for the credits it uses.

If you're a US team, keep in mind that Authoritas bills in pounds. Your monthly cost will move every time the exchange rate does.

What people say

There aren't many reviews of Authoritas to go on. On Capterra it's still listed as Analytics SEO, with an average of 4.2 out of 5. Only 13 people have reviewed it there. Most of those reviews date from 2020 and 2021. I found little recent discussion on Reddit either, where people comparing AI visibility trackers usually bring up other names.

Which wins AI search visibility?

My verdict for AI search visibility is RankControl.

Authoritas covers a lot of SEO ground and tracks AI answers in detail. Each check costs you credits, though, and Grok is missing from its engines. The bigger problem is where it stops: once it has shown you the gaps, someone else has to write, publish and build links for the pages.

With RankControl, one price covers the entire loop. Titles come from your buyers' questions, articles get written and published on your domain with outreach drafted, and six engines are checked each week. A month in, you've got a title calendar, articles publishing on the schedule you set and four weekly readings of your position.

Nothing stops you doing it by hand: write the pages, publish them, pitch for links and check six engines weekly. RankControl's agents can do that monthly work instead and leave you free for your product. Current Authoritas customers should read our guide to switching from Authoritas first, since it lists what to export before you leave.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mostly it's what happens after the tracking. Authoritas sells AI Search apart from its SEO platform, and you spend credits to see how AI models mention and cite your brand. RankControl's one monthly price covers 50 queries checked weekly on six AI engines, plus the planning, writing and publishing of articles and the link outreach drafts.

It's all in pounds. After a free tier with 50 credits, AI Search costs £89 a month for 2,000 credits, and the next two plans are £229 for 6,000 and £379 for 15,000. Enterprise begins at £1,129. A query costs 1 credit on most models, and more on flagship or search-grounded ones.

Its AI search pages name Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode along with Bing Copilot. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude are there too, and the pricing page adds DeepSeek and other models, but Grok wasn't anywhere we looked. You can schedule tracking hourly, daily, weekly or monthly, and every check uses credits.

As far as we could tell, no. It has content tools, including an FAQ explorer, a content strategy tool and a content assistant, but nothing we saw sends an article to your CMS. RankControl posts natively to nine destinations, and nothing goes live automatically until you turn auto-publish on.

Not that we could find. What it offers instead are APIs, for keyword rankings, page content and the platform, plus a plugin for Google Sheets. RankControl includes an MCP server and CLI in the plan, with 80+ tools.
