RankControl publishes each approved article as a native post on your Wix
blog. Posts use your theme, your navigation, and your domain, at
/post/your-slug. The free Wix plan is enough. Updates to an article revise
the same post.
You need a Wix site with the Blog app added, and access to the Wix account that owns the site. The API key is created at the account level.
1. Make sure that the site is published
A Wix site that was never published serves nothing, blog posts included. If the site is new, open the editor and click Publish once.
Your site URL is your custom domain, or the free address in the form
https://username.wixsite.com/site-name. You can see it under Settings →
Domains in the site dashboard.
2. Generate an API key
- Go to manage.wix.com/account/api-keys, or open your account avatar and choose Account Settings → API Keys.
- Click Generate API Key and name it.
- Under Permissions, check All site permissions. The key must include Blog permissions.
- Enter the email verification code that Wix sends you.
- Copy the key now. It starts with
IST.and is shown once.
The key works for every site in your account.
3. Copy the Site ID
Open the site dashboard. The Site ID is the long identifier in the address
bar: manage.wix.com/dashboard/<site-id>/.... Copy it.
4. Connect in RankControl
Go to Brand Control → Publishing, open Add a destination, and choose Wix. Enter a name, the Site URL (step 1), the API key (step 2), and the Site ID (step 3). Click Test connection.
Then:
- Choose a Post author. Wix requires a site member as the author of every post. On most sites this is you, the owner.
- Under Publish as, choose Published post (posts go live) or Draft for review (posts wait in the Wix dashboard).
- Click Save destination.
Only one destination serves articles at a time. Open the saved row and click Make active if new articles must go to Wix.
What arrives on your blog
- The article body: headings, lists, tables, links, and images. Images are imported into your Wix media library.
- The hero image as the post cover. It also appears at the top of the article, because Wix post pages do not show the cover inline.
- The slug, the meta title, and the meta description.
- A blog category that matches the article’s topic.
With Draft for review, a post has no public link until you publish it in Wix. If you delete a post in Wix, RankControl archives the article and tells you.
Analytics
Visit tracking needs one site-wide snippet. Copy it from Analytics → Sources and add it to your site’s custom code in Wix. Wix exposes no request logs, so AI crawler counts are not available for this destination.
Troubleshooting
“Wix rejected the credentials.” The key is missing Blog permissions, or the Site ID belongs to another site. Generate a new key with All site permissions (step 2) and copy the Site ID again (step 3).
“Connected, but the site has no members.” Wix posts need a member as author. Log in to the site once as its owner, then click Test connection again.
Every post URL shows “not published”. The site itself was never published. Open the editor and click Publish once (step 1).
Posts are published but visitors cannot see them. Publish the site in Wix, and make sure that the Blog app is installed.
A draft has no live link. Drafts get a public link only after you publish them in the Wix dashboard.
